Home Performance NC has a very personal beginning.
In the early 2000′s, Mark Bashista, our lead auditor and owner, had started a business that renovated historic properties in central North Carolina. These homes were beautiful, fascinating, filled with history…and filled with leaks! They weren’t built to be heated the way we heat our homes today: with central heat and air This was a challenge to Mark: how to remain true to the historical nature of the house but to provide modern conveniences that today’s homeowners expect.
Mark was truly put to the test when he purchased a gorgeous old, somewhat rustic Carolina farmhouse for his own family. Built in 1915, the house’s walls and ceilings were paneled with individual boards – bead boards – milled from the woods on the property. Installing central heat and air in a home whose walls and ceilings were made up of original, unsealed bead board was a lesson to Mark on how to waste energy and money! A lesson he had to learn quickly. He took what he learned from his own home, those he worked on for others, retrained and became fully licensed and certified, and started Home Performance NC.

We would highly recommend an energy audit by Home Performance NC, Inc., The audit conducted by Mark Bashista, HERS certified professional is very thorough, and the report he provides is easy to understand. The good news is that we can complete a lot of the improvements ourselves, thus saving money while immediately recouping savings on our heating and cooling bills. It was also reassuring to know that our HVAC Duct work has no leaks, and our system is operating at high efficiency.
