This grand announcement is long overdue: Home Performance NC has an insulation rig! Woo hoo! Big excitement! Cellulose or fiberglass – take your pick! And housing the insulation rig is a box truck…and housing the extra insulation is a shop space in beautiful downtown Pittsboro – grand opening announcement for that will be coming soon!
What this means is that if you contract with us to do weatherization we don’t have to sub it out. We can do it ourselves. This means a better price for you, only one contractor you need to deal with, and only one appointment you’ll need to make. We can do it all!
Blown cellulose or fiberglass are ideal for making existing construction more energy efficient, which, if you read this blog, is our passion. It works because it’s blown in – it’s lightweight, it will settle into hard-to-reach places, and it’s very effective. It’s also pretty cheap – both in materials and labor.
If you’re thinking about adding insulation to your home, I suggest going to the Energy Savers website to find
out the pros/cons of each type of insulation. If you’re considering a blown insulation (as opposed to foam, which is a very different product – very effective but with its own pros and cons) you should realize that insulation alone will not create energy efficiency in your home. Blown insulation + envelope sealing together is what will give you the best results – no matter how thick or deep your insulation is. Of course, we’re happy to advise re: the best kind of insulation for your home if you give us a call (919-360-1570) or e-mail us with questions.
